It’s just over a month since Fulham were last in action at home, but
the Whites return to Craven Cottage on Saturday (3pm) to take on West
Bromwich Albion.
Martin Jol’s men will be looking to get back on the winning trail following three successive league and cup defeats.
But the Whites will be buoyed by our 5-0 thrashing of Norwich City on the opening day of the season as well as the fact that we’re unbeaten in our last 13 home league games against West Brom, winning eight and drawing five.
One of those draws came when the two sides last met at the Cottage, with Somen Tchoyi’s late strike cancelling out Clint Dempsey’s opener in February.
Earlier in the season, the match at The Hawthorns finished in a 0-0 draw on 24th September.
The previous encounter with the Baggies in SW6 finished in a 3-0 win for the Whites after goals from Simon Davies, Dempsey and Brede Hangeland.
West Brom, now under the guidance of former Chelsea defender Steve Clarke, go into Saturday’s encounter unbeaten so far this term.
A 3-0 win over Liverpool on the opening weekend of the season was followed by a 1-1 draw at Tottenham Hotspur and a 2-0 home victory over Everton.
There could be a familiar face in the Baggies’ squad in the shape of Zoltan Gera. The midfielder remains a popular figure with Fulham fans following his three-year stint at the Club from 2008 to 2011. He scored a screamer in the aforementioned win over Liverpool.
Baggies boss Clarke is confident Steven Reid will have recovered from a hamstring injury in time to take on Fulham.
But winger Jerome Thomas is again ruled out with the hip problem which has caused him to miss the first four league and cup games of the campaign.
Clarke said: "We are hopeful over Steven but Jerome won't be fit again this weekend. He's been in and out, picked up lots of little niggles and it's unfortunate for him. He's been working hard to get back as quickly as possible."
For Fulham, Jol will be hoping to have Bryan Ruiz available for selection once more. The Costa Rican missed the games at Sheffield Wednesday and West Ham United with a slight hamstring problem.
Dimitar Berbatov is pushing for a full start after stepping off the substitutes’ bench for the second half at West Ham.
The Club would like to make supporters travelling to the game aware of planned engineering works on the London Underground this weekend.
Fans travelling to SW6 on Saturday are advised to plan their journey in advance due to engineering works on the tube. .
