Chelsea's success is routinely attributed to lavish spending on some of the best players in the world.
Chelsea look to maintain their perfect record and remain top of the Premier League on Sunday when they face winless QPR at Loftus Road.
The Blues (3-0-0) are gearing up to begin the defence of their Champions League title midweek against Juventus, and QPR (0-1-2) have made a financial splash in the hopes their ambition pays off eventually.
Chelsea, though, are alone atop the league table, while Rangers have one point from three matches and occupy a spot in the relegation zone after going until the final matchday last year to avoid the drop.
There's been few signs that Chelsea are going to slow down domestically.
The club has outscored opponents 8-2 so far after beating Newcastle 2-0 on Aug. 25 in its most recent league match. However, it was followed up six days later with a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Super Cup.
It shouldn't be very surprising to see Frank Lampard and Fernando Torres topping Chelsea with two league goals each, but defender Branislav Ivanovic has also managed to net two.
Torres' goals have come in each of the last two league matches, and he scored a hat trick in Chelsea's 6-1 romp of QPR at Stamford Bridge on April 29.
They're 4-0-1 in the last five meetings, including a 1-0 victory in the FA Cup during their last visit to Loftus Road on Jan. 28.
The Blues' most recent league match there resulted in a 1-0 defeat on Oct. 23, but it was marred by two red cards for Chelsea and a controversial incident between John Terry and Anton Ferdinand.
Terry was accused of racially abusing the Rangers defender, and was charged with using racist language. However, he was acquitted during a trial in July.
Terry's status is uncertain, though, after he suffered an ankle injury while playing for England in a 5-0 win over Moldova in a World Cup qualifier. Ashley Cole is also carrying a hurt ankle, which ruled him out of two matches for the Three Lions.
Terry had a goal in the home romp of QPR last season.
Rangers look dramatically different from that meeting, signing seven new players including former Chelsea defender Jose Bosingwa.
Those wholesale changes may be a reason for their slow start, as the group looks for familiarity. QPR have two goals in three matches, and are trying rebound from a 3-1 loss at Manchester City on Sept. 1.
"We can't wait for the weekend," assistant manager Mark Bowen told the team's official website. "We're champing at the bit for this one. We've had a stuttering start with a whole host of new players coming in over the summer. We've had players coming in at different levels of fitness throughout preseason, so it's going to take time.
"But we've had two weeks training since the last fixture against Manchester City and things have gone very well. We've had most of the squad available to us and we've managed to get a lot of good, hard work done."
Bobby Zamora may be back in the lineup after getting the lone goal versus City. The forward has managed to score in each of his three games, including a 3-0 victory over Walsall in the League Cup on Aug. 28.
